Recognition for SMEs in Joint Fight Against COVID-19
This year's special edition of the annual IPOS Intellectual Property (IP) Awards recognises the efforts of Singaporean companies in their joint fight for humanity against COVID-19. The IPOS Innovation for Humanity Award celebrates how bright sparks in ingenuity, inventiveness, and creativity work together to solve one of humanity's greatest challenges of our time.
Acknowledgement of Public-Private Partnerships
The Award also acknowledges the contribution of public–private partnerships in a time of crisis, to advance the progress of urgent developments in COVID-19-fighting innovations by private companies with the support of the public sector. For nominations, IPOS and IPOS International (the subsidiary of IPOS and organiser of the Awards) had reached out to Agency for Science, Technology and Research, Economic Development Board, Enterprise Singapore, Government Technology Agency, Ministry of Health (MOH), and MOH Office for Healthcare Transformation, as well as within IPOS itself.
Selection Criteria of Special Edition Award
Apart from being nominated by a public agency, recipients of the IPOS Innovation for Humanity Award are local SMEs that have been fighting at the front lines of COVID-19 with their innovations. Each recipient has at least one registrable IP such as a trade mark, design or patent in their portfolio of intangible assets. In addition, their COVID-19-related innovations have demonstrated market adoption.
Recognition at IP Week @ SG
The Award recipients will be announced at the IP Week @ SG Opening Address on 25 August 2020. We look forward to sharing details of these innovative companies then.
